I am truly humbled by our amazing success in this historic first election for Board of Education members. I am proud to be an American where we can participate fully in our government, advocating, running for election, and voting. First, I want to thank God for all my tremendous blessings: my husband, our children, my Dad and all our family. Our friends and supporters, our church family, and our Baltimore County District Three community. I am especially appreciative of my campaign team leaders and every volunteer who contributed large and small! I am grateful for support from elected officials in my service on the board and support of my campaign, including: County Councilman Wade Kach, Delegate Chris West, just elected as Senator, Senator Jim Brochin, and Comptroller Peter Franchot. Last, but certainly not least, I am thankful to Governor Larry Hogan for having the faith and confidence in me to appoint me to the board 3 years ago.
The landslide victory of our campaign sends a clear message that the time is now for the Board of Education of Baltimore County to provide effective governance and oversight of Baltimore County Public Schools. The future of our children is too important to do anything less!
I extend congratulations to all who had success in elections yesterday. I look forward to working with all for the benefit of our students, teachers, staff, families and community. In addition to continued collaboration with board member Julie Henn, I am especially hopeful and excited to begin working with newly elected Board of Education members: Lisa Mack, Cheryl Pastuer, Makeda Scott, Lily Rowe and Rod McMillion. Congratulations! To the runners-up in the many elections, I appreciate their motivation, energy and efforts to improve and enhance the quality of education and the lives of Baltimore County students, teachers, and parents.
